He may not be with us any longer but the legacy of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, lives on through the enduring appeal of his songs and his ground breaking videos, in particular the thirteen minute and forty three second epic  Thriller.

Thriller was MTV’s first world premiere video and it has since been voted the most influential pop music video of all time with the 2006 Guinness World Records proclaiming it to be the “most successful music video ever” thanks to it having sold more than a staggering nine million copies.

Thriller had a huge effect on pop culture and changed the face of music videos as we know them. In particular Thriller was renowned for being the first music video that blended music with actual filmmaking and in 2009 the video was inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress – the first time the honor had been bestowed on a music video. It has also been claimed that the Thriller video is the most viewed music video of all time – allegedly watched by more than four billion people.
